Hi, I live in Arizona, and 2 years ago my now ex girlfriend attacked me with a sword, yes I said a sword. Resulting in 17 stitches. She was found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon - domestic violence. Needless to say this has given me a host of mental issues, plus to this day my arm still hurts from time to time. What are my options?

First of all, be careful, it sounds like she has some anger issues. I am a lawyer in Texas, so the law may be different in your state. It sounds like you have a claim for assault and you can potentially pursue that civilly. The fact that she was found guilty will help on the liability issue so that your case would be focused on your damages. The real problem is collecting on the judgment should you prevail because it is highly unlikely that she would have any insurance coverage for your injuries.
