Slip And Fall
Daniel B. Ross

Q.

About six weeks ago, I went out to a sports bar and slipped and fell on the wet floor. I thought I had just sprained my ankle. I left without incident. On Monday I went to the ER and found out I broke my ankle. While I do have Medical insurance, the deductibles and co-pays add up. Can I get them to pay for my medical expenses and time off of work? Should I get a lawyer? Do I need a lawyer?

A.

You have one of the more difficult cases, a "premise liability case." For a premise liability case, you will have to prove that there was an unreasonably dangerous condition on the premises, the owner knew or should have known of the condition, and the owner failed to correct and/or warn of the condition. These types of cases are difficult to prove, and you would benefit from the assistance of an experienced personal injury attorney. I wish you the best and hope for your speedy recovery. Good luck!
