Halloween is supposed to be a fun holiday for kids, not tragic. It has always crossed my mind that drivers should be publicly encouraged not to drive on Halloween, if at all possible. With so many children -- and particularly young children -- out and about, on foot, and with so much energy and anticipation, drivers are automatically placed in a difficult situation. Unfortunately for a local family, this combination of dangers proved fatal when an 8-year old boy was hit as a pedestrian while crossing the road. This is a sad lesson to all of us -- we should all try to stay off the the road on Halloween. Visit us at
