Automobile accidents can be a tragic personal injury litigation and unfortunately, happen far too often. With the summer vacation season upon us, it’s important that people drive safely on the roads and highways of South Carolina. With more travelers on the road, there is a greater likelihood for accidents especially along U.S. 158-Bypass and Beach Road along Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. Sadly, there was a three car accident on U.S. 25 in March that left one person dead and three others injured.
The accident happened when an Oldsmobile turned left onto Courtland Boulevard and came into contact with a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Tom Sherlock, 27, of North Augusta, S.C. He hit the passenger side of the vehicle, killing 87-year-old Alconia Dermid of Hendersonville, NC. The driver and sister of the victim, 83-year-old Dorothy McCraw of Hendersonville, was airlifted to Mission Hospitals in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing and speed did not appear to be an issue. No charges were initially filed.
It took two hours for crews to remove debris scattered over the southbound lanes of U.S. 25.
