The fact is that doctors, hospitals and health care professionals have made serious preventable
mistakes which have cost numerous people their lives. Our hometown paper, the San Francisco
Chronicle has created “Dead By Mistake” (by Phil Bronstein), a
website that chronicles the common
errors that regularly occur and it details the 2,000,000 deaths that have taken place during the
past 10 years as a result of preventable medical errors.
The articles contained within the
website are comprehensive, compelling and include useful information without
bias or innuendo. I believe that they are the most helpful national articles that ever been written
about medical errors and their impact on our citizen’s lives.
This is an extremely
important news effort because it refutes what insurance companies are continually telling the
public, i.e. that the main reason why health care insurance is so expensive is because of trial
lawyers and the lawsuits we file. In reality, the main reason that insurance rates are so high
is because there are bad doctors practicing bad medicine all across the United States.
For example, it was just revealed this past week that Michael Jackson’s death was a direct
result of his doctor’s giving him too many drugs (in too high doses), leading the Los Angeles
coroner to conclude that Jackson death was a
homicide.
Please take the
time to look over the “Dead By Mistake” website and corresponding articles and view the
overwhelming evidence that some health care professionals are maiming and killing their patients on
a regular basis.
