Preferably a well qualified lawyer to represent them. There are many lawyers that advertise in the phone book and on TV who have never seen the inside of a courthouse.

In addition, when they get the case they either don’t know how to handle the case or they resolve the case for a much lower amount than the injured victim should obtain.  So when hiring a lawyer it’s important to ask or research a lawyer’s track record, their experience in the courtroom, and the types of cases that they’ve worked on.  It’s also most important to find out how eager the lawyers are to actually try the lawsuit if necessary.  It would be in your best interest to find a true trial lawyer and not just a paper pusher.
